My guess would be the fork. Although I know entirely different, our 856 jumps out of High 1st when under load because we need to adjust forks. However, we put it in gear, continue leaning forward on it and listen to the floor of the tractor. When it stops vibrating, it caught and when you take off, keep pressure on and it will most likely catch for as long as you want it. Don't take my word for it on the different transmission, but it's worth a shot.
