Trailering a Farmall M (weight of around 6000 lbs depending on how equipped) is a bit of a stretch with a 1/2 ton truck. If you are going a short distance you will be ok. If you are going farther (I'd say more than 50 miles), you will need trailer brakes, an oil cooler on the engine and a transmission cooler if you have an automatic transmission. If it is a tag-a-long trailer, you will also need an equalizer hitch. If you are going even a short distance without these items, especially the brakes you are taking risks. For long distance towing of something as heavy as an M you need a 3/4 ton truck minimum. Also, make sure you have a trailer of sufficient capacity. A 6 or 7000 lb trailer with 3500 lbs axles is not sufficient for an M because the trailer rating includes the weight of the trailer. Also, note that the M will not go on a trailer where the trailer deck is between the wheels unless the rear wheels of the M are turned in.
