Are you on a deep till program or just notill? A buddy of mine was a DMI block man and we played around with the deep till and i did like the resualts it did not disturb the serface much and on a wet year it helped on drainage and on a dry year the plant root went deeper for moisture and ya did not have to till every year my only problem was i did not have the pony power to pull it with my tractor . It sure did help on compaction , my hard pan was at7to 8 inches and went down to 14-16 inches that was from the 30-35 years of cattel tromping on the ground.
