I posted last week about a 400 my friend bought with a bad clutch. Well, the clutch was certainly gone as the tractor would barely pull itself up a hill in low gear, but the TA still works. My question is, how do you NOT use a TA? My friend already has a 966 and uses the TA for engine braking, which I thought was a no-no, but maybe there's difference between the older and the newer TAs. And what is the purpose of the over-running clutch? Another question: The IPTO makes a whine/growl when not engaged. If I engage it, the rear end is as quiet as a tomb. Is heat supposed to build up on the PTO? I guess a bearing could be out. Any suggestions? Thanks, Chris B.
