I've encountered the gunk before, on my
Regular which had sat for 45+ years, this can't
be that bad. I did have the bringing it down
problem there too. I ended up using 4 putty
knives and a wooden mallet. As for cleaning the screen, any suggestions
there? Scrape any obvious gunk, then shoot
with WD-40 until it looks clean? Wipe with a
paper towel? Then on the gasket front. Do you just put the
gasket on by it self? Add a real thin layer of
rtv?
I'll probably do a gasket because I don't trust
myself to make a good even coat of RTV if I
just used that.
