You are working with the bottom radiator hose on the front of engine in the 1st question, replace the hoses with straight new pieces of 2" x 2-5/8" radiator hose from dealer or auto parts store. The 2nd item on the hyd pipe I dont follow your description of the location or the type of system on your SM, those models had 2 different systems, early were same as M (called belly pump), later SM/-all-SMTA hyd a engine driven pump mounted by distributor and had different hose plumbing.
