Tim, I believe the change was made in 1949, so depending on your serial number, it could be either way. I'm not where I can check my references, right now, so I can't verify this for you. I have a 1948 W-9, and it should have the McCormick Deering on the nose, and the McCormick Deering on the side of the hood.
