The distillant carb had a main jet adjustment that the gas carb didnt have. The distillant carb will run on gas, but needs to be readjusted. Get your engine to idle good using the idle mixture adjustment, then run at fast speed and adjust the main jet adjustment screw, screwing in until engine starts to sputter, then back out slowly until it sounds right. If you're still having problems, maybe a carb rebuild is in your future. Good luck.
