The front seal of the pump, behind the drive gear can go out, it is very unlikely that it will because there is always oil present. But they have gone out before. Hydralic oil won't harm your engine and you will notice it really quick because you won't have any hydralics and the pump will probably make some noise. I have a Super MTA with the live pump and it appears to be original and I have had no problems with it at all. I wouldn't worry about it. Steven
