I agree with you about the 806 being a tough durable tractor.But, if you don't mind my asking, What was so wrong with the 4-53 Detroit 2-cycle. I know they were noisy , but they started good , run cooler than a 4-cycle and was more economical on fuel.
I had a 1900 (sister to the 1950)and I loved that "Ol Detroit"!

Tractor Traction - by Chris Pratt. Our first bout with traction problems came when cultivatin with our Massey-Harris Pony. Up till then, this tractor had been running a corn grinder and pulling a trailer. It had new unfilled rear tires and no wheel weights. The garden was already sprouting when we hooked up the mid-mount shovel cultivators to the Pony.
