Chuck -- I'm sure glad that was it. Don't know the history or engineering of it, but I suspect those gaps were manufactured precisely to prevent cracks by providing a relief point for the normal expansion and contraction. If they weren't there, we'd probably all have really cracked manifolds, and be changing manifolds like spark plugs. I wouldn't mind having that concession! Scotty
