In Tucson you have to join the club that's holding the pulls. That's $20 for the year. We only have pulls at the county fair (2 weekends). we also have a few "playdays" where we have unorganized pulls just for the heck of it. We don't have any prizes or trophys, just bragging rights! We do have other pulls around AZ also one in Buckeye that charges a optional donation to charity. I went to that one and pulled at least 10 times, I got to pull enough times to get my engine adjusted just right! I could have pulled alot more times than that! If I was paying $5 per hook I'd be in the poor house. but I paid I think $15 including a overnight camping fee. The others I know of also require you to be a member of their club is about all. I think those of you that pay $5 per hook are out of your minds. If every one refused to pay that the organizers would have an awful lot of unhappy paying spectators. how ever if they actually payed out prize money it might be worth it but then everyone gets way too serious with spending 10 times as much as you'd ever hope to win building super engines and bending or blatantly breaking every rule! I'm happy to do it just for bragging rights, it keeps it alot more fun! I've been down the other road with race cars and just plain didn't have much fun doing it!
