When I worked for SD GF&P while in college, we used to haul a Cub-Low-Boy w/o turf tires in the back of a '63 1/2T Chev long-wide box & could close the tail gate, but had to "push" to get get the chains in the latches. It had a belly mount mower on it. Hauled it lotsa miles that way to mow fishing access areas. Used a couple of 9' X 8" X 4" bridge planks to drive it into the box to load it. That got really interesting if it was raining a little! (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)
