paint your magnet, just remember that where the magnet makes contact with the sides of the magneto should be close. a lesson in this would be to stick a piece of steel to the magnet, then remove the piece of steel and place a piece of paper between the magnet and the piece of steel and stick the piece of steel back on the magnet in the same place. it will not stick as strong. on the other hand, if you do not paint the magnet, it will rust, then you will have a layer of rust between the magnet and the magneto, so the most ideal thing would be to paint the magnet with a paint that is thin. i use lacquor, one cote.
