I have my H split and tore down also. I went and looked at the bolts. 5/16-NC The marking on the bolts did not give me a clue as to hardness. But if I were a betting man i'd say these bolts are grade 8. Just because of the application. Now a grade 8 5/16-NC bolt should be torqued to 25 ft.lbs. Good luck! I'll be interested in others thoughts.
