The appearance on the frame rails of my H suggest that they used an "Upset Welding" process or possibly a "Drop Forging" technique. The flashing on the inside suggests the first, but the transition line on the outside indicates the latter. It has been around since at least the F12 era. I can tell you it is a pretty good joint. The rails on my H, if removed from the tractor can ring pretty loud when struck with a hammer.
