I concur with Michael on the capabilities of Lucas--doesn't help smoking or compression or any other miracle stuff. It helps coat the bearings better during start-up and gives a few more pounds of oil pressure. If your engine is knocking I doubt it'll help much.

One thing I did found out is that you can't leave it in when winter hits. It makes the engine a beast to get started. I couldn't figure out my Cub wouldn't turn over till I drained the oil. Came out like molasses--and this was 25% Lucas! Then again, I keep my Cub outside.

I'll probably add a little to engine in the spring.
