Steve, there's lots of H's & M's in our area that run a pump from the front chankshaft pulley, but the ones I've seen use a "bicycle chain" to drive it, w/small hole cut into frame to let the bottom of the chain through. Most are narrow fronts, so there isn't enough room to put the pump under the front bolster. I know of two (1 H & 1 M) that have used two bearings & U-joint & mounted the pump on the front, like on a Ford, w/drive shaft going through the crank hole. One guy I talked to about doing it said that it took a lot of machining to get it to work. Also, you have to run a "high speed" pump when you do this, as the engine runs a lot faster than the PTO & PTO pumps whine & go to "pot" in a short time. One of my H's has a gear on the front shaft & a hole in the frame. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)
