After close investigation found old gear wasn't worth reversing, so cut it off with a hacksaw. New one was only $17. Heated new gear in my wife's oven for 15min. at 450 degrees. It went on with a little effort. New ones have square teeth on both sides, my old one did not. Thanks to all for your help. Ray
