F-4 Magneto restoration

Hello. Got a few questions about restoring an F-4 Magneto. What can I use to bring back the shinny black on the bakelite cover. What would you recommend cleaning up the aluminum with? Can you paint the magnet with out hurting it? If anyone else has any tips that would be helpful please let me know. Oh, one more thing. Is there a reprint manual available for this magneto.
