You have to think about condition of the engine prior to overheating, oil use, hours, any power loss, etc. When you overheat an engine enough to do some damage, it's a good idea to tear it down. As to the extent of repair, that wil depend on the condition of the rest of the engine. Is there a ridge at the top of the sleeves? If so they need replacing. Rings will be a must. When you cook an engine bad, they lose sealing ability. If it were mine I guess I would plan on the whole job, but it's yours and you need to figure out what you want to spend. Doc
