David, They all make a little sound, but it is a matter of degree. Have you run your Cub fast enough to splash the oil around in the case? There is a set of galleries to drain the oil back through the vital places. There are 3 bearings that will be turning, including the PTO bearing. Is the noise any more or less when the PTO is turning? The roller bearing at the rear of the transmission is the most likely cause of noise, due to lubrication problems. They are often assembled with an oil hole covered, causing the rollers to erode the shaft. Pull the cover and see if you can get any oil to it, just to see if it quiets down. George Willer
