as the owner of 2 MD's you know what my answer will be. If the tractor starts and switches over to diesel the motor is most likely in good shape. I would check the antifreeze, oil, etc. These tractors have been know to crack heads but that was usually related to the fact that they were not properly cooled down after being worked. These 2 tractors I have were used and were pulled but they were taken care of. My vote would be to try to buy it.
