John, there are a host of things that could be wrong. I had trouble with my clutch about two months ago. There was almost no disengagement with the pedal all the way down. I looked through the bottom inspection cover and saw that the clearance between the pressure plate fingers and release bearing was excessive and uneven. I split the tractor and found that only one third of the plate had been making contact. I searched for new parts and found that it was cheaper to have mine rebuilt (didn,t replace anything after all was said and done). Put tractor back together and adjusted everthing back out. Seems to work fine now. I think that adjusting the fingers out helped the most on mine.
With the pedal all the way up I adjusted the fingers so that there was 1/8' between their face and that of the release bearing. Then adjusted all of the linkage. That means TA too. I hope this helps you. I didn't really have any destroyed parts maybe you'll be lucky
