I put a straight pipe on my A and love it! About 20" long with a bend at the top and slash cut so rain doesn't get in. I was tired of pulling the muffler off every time I want to put it in the barn, muffler was 30" long and I didn't want to cut it off. I think you need to put a fair length of pipe on so that the engine doesn't suck cold air back in when it's running. Something with backpressure and exhaust velocity I think. Steven
