Good description of how it works by Geoff. Centrifugal force keeps the oil from coming out the shaft. Just don't overfill it. If you are real particular, rework it with a bushing, etc. There is a little stand pipe in there that determines the proper oil level. Use an oil can to squirt oil in with the fill turned to the side. Then turn the fill hole to the bottom and let the excess above the stand pipe level drain out. I have a Kubota that has a sealed ball bearing on the fan hub, no way to lub it. Lasted less than 10 years. I have an A and a C, and the fan bearins are still going strong after more than 50 yrs.
