Grease will be too thick given the speed the fan turns. they all have play in them after 50 yrs. You can take them apart and put in new gasket in front. If the play is back and front no worries if it is up and down it will only get worse. take it apart and put in a bushing.
When refilling with oil have filler hole at the side so that you effectively only half fill it.
