I have 2 1948 MD's and they have dates like that on them. One tractor has 3-28-48 and the other has 4-7-47. My grandfather was told when he bought those tractors that the date was the day the tractor was actually built. However the date on the right side of each tractor is different. I don't know for sure. They were both purchased in 1948 and are for sure 1948 models. I think the date on that pedestal is just the date that part was made. Someone else might know this for sure.
