E..Rob a turn signal bulb and socket from a junk car. connect two insulated leads to this test rig by connecting one wire to the + term. on battery and other to ground on tractor. Light should burn. Take only the wire loose going to ground and wait to connect it to the remaining side terminal on the alternator. F..You have now an "idiot" light and exciter voltage. Start tractor, go to fast idle, temporarily touch wire to unused side term.(number 1) System should charge. If bulb burns out charging will cease. You need a 10 ohm 6 watt resistor instead of bulb for permanent hook up(harder to find than bulb) Advise outcome If this is too much. I can help you install a one wire reman. alternator but this involves spending some money ($40 to $100) based on source and availability
