I had the same problem with my H. It turned out to be the poppet springs on the shift rail not holding the balls into the rail properly. The whole top has to come off the transmission. I replaced 4 and 5th gear springs as these are most commonly used gears. My 5th gear spring was in two pieces. These are still avaible thru case/
IH and the cover gasket.
