The Ballast Resistor is simply a two terminal In/Out voltage dropping (12 to 6) device. The wire down from the Ignition Switches IGN output terminal (hot when ON) connects to one terminal and the other ballast terminal conencts to the coils lil high input (NOT to distributor) terminal. On a Pos ground system, the ignition/ballast connects to the coils lil - terminal and its other + terminal wires to the distributor. On a Neg ground system its the opposite, ignition/ballast wires to coils + terminal and its - wires to distributor. So to answer your question, the ballast resistors output (NOT its input wire to ignition switch) connects to the coils lil terminal, being the lil + or - as described above depending on Pos or Neg ground. NOTE dont confuse the coils lil + and - primary terminals (ballast and distributor) with its big center tower high voltage output where the coil wire atatches John T
