thanks, allan. i first thought about electrical problems. i checked to make sure the points were ok and that the spark plug wires and rotor all looked like they were still making contact. when i took off the hood and the air hose to the carb and watched while i tried to start it, i could not see any gas coming out of the carb. after i flushed the line from the fuel pump to the carb, and hooked it all back up, it started fine and ran ok for a few minutes. i could see the gas spraying down just like it should. then after a few minutes, it started starving again. would the coil have anything to do with this? thanks for your help.
