Thanx vet. Unfortunately the nearest red mech is about 10 hrs drive from here, and although my mech was trained by deere he's seen the inside of them all. In the end we pulled the mcv again and actually found that it was a gasket problem. We hadn't compared new gasket to old gasket and the new gasket was missing one journal path. Part numbers checked out but the gasket was just wrong. Anyway new gasket on the way. I wanted to confirm though. That plug on the lower left is the one right under the oil cooler lines? Thanx for your help.
