Earl, I thought I was the only persone who knew about that weed! We never knew what it was called back then but just that it worked exellent! I have since found out it is called "jewelweed". My Grandpa taught me about it also. It will get a small orange color flower on it later this summer. the leaves are velvety soft and the stem is hollow and juicy and almost a translucent green. We find it along creeks, seeps and other places that tend to be wet in early summer, but it does grow in drier dirt too. If I get into the ivy, first thing I do is grab a handful of the stems , crush them up and rub it on, takes care of it right then. Some of the health nuts are bottling it and charge a small fortune for it. maybe I better start growing it on the farm!
