It'll take a little math, but measure the diameter of the Cub pulley first. The Cub PTO runs at 1800 RPM, and the A PTO runs at 540 RPM. So, the A pulley will need to be 1800/540, or 3-1/3 times the size of a Cub's pulley for the mower to spin at the same RPM. My Woods 59 pulley is about 8" in diameter, so you're talking about a 24" diameter pulley on the A!!! Nope, you've got to change the pulley on the deck to a smaller pulley and use something more reasonable on the A's PTO. You also need to keep in mind that the Cub PTO spins backwards compared to the A. If the deck has an overrunning clutch, it won't work at all. The blades will be going backwards if there is no overrunning clutch on the mower. You can flip the blades over but they won't cut right. You'll need new blades from an A version of the Woods 42 deck.
