This won't "add" five horsepower, but a good tune-up can re-gain a few horsepower that may be missing. Make sure the spark plugs are gapped correctly and clean. Good spark plug wires and cap and rotor. Check the timing to be sure it is set properly - it can be advanced until you hear "pinging" under load, then just back off a bit so you don't hear a ping anymore. Upgrading to a Super H carburetor or other with a larger venturi is a pulling trick that can boost horsepower a bit... also to grind away the ribs that attach the intake to the exhaust manifold to make for a cooler intake mixture. Try posting over on the pulling board- they have figured out all the tricks.
