as a cubby owner my self i think i can help. i run a 6 foot belly mower on my cub. i put a temp gauge in my cub. my radiator does not leak but its orignal to the tractor. my advice, get a new one. don't mess around with fixing your old one or getting one thats already been repaired, just opt for the new one now. i was suprised to see how hot my cub gets when mowing. it runs in the upper end of RUN almost to HOT. having your starter rebulit will be around $100, as i just had mine redone too. it also was original to the tractor. i converted mine to 12 volts useing the 3 wire gm alt and 10 ohn resistor. i used a double v-belt pully, and i had the blades on the cooling fan turned down in the lathe to have fitting room. would u could do is, get a 12 volt generator, 12 volt voltage regulator and coil, and change your light bulbs to 12 volt and 12 volt battery. my cub was ok with 6v's, but i was tired of fight it on a negitve 20 degree morning trying to get it to start to plow snow. now she starts every time. my next upgrade is the electronic igntion set on this website to elminate the points. i also added a few more light to see better when i plow at night. long story short, opt for the new parts now, they'll pay for them selfs in one season.
