On the main (power) screw, turning it C.W. (in) leans the mixture. Try turning the main screw in all the way (don't force it once it bottoms however!). Next adjust the idle mixture for best idle. Then snap open the throttle. If the engine stumbles/runs lean gradually open the main screw 1/4 turn at a time until it picks up when you snap the throttle open. However if the engine runs rich even with the main screw all the way in something's amiss inside the carb (float level too high, tip broken off the main screw point, etc.) ---- NOTE! The idle mixture screw works the opposite from the main screw - turning it clockwise RICHENS the mixture.
