Any axle I have seen is like you said but most also have a clamp around them. Loosen the bolts on the clamp and pull the bolt that goes down thru. I have pushed them out with a hydrualic jack by pushing off the knee on the other side.With the jack laying sideways of course. If you can't find a replacement knee, they make weld on replacement spindles that may work. A farm weld/machine shop can help you. Gary
