Perhaps it was just BAD to begin with?? Other things may be that the current rating of the electronic switch was NOT compatible with the coil??? I believe some of the Pertronix Flame Thrower high energy coils require a higher current rated switch then their normal switch used for tamer or stock coils that draw less current. Grounds and wiring and connections can contribute to problems, but if its already fried you better check with pertronix and hope your switch was matched up for whatever coil you used. If you used the old stock coil the off the shelf elec switch should have handled that fine. I guess your switch matched your tractor voltage and ground?? If you were using a 6 volt coil on a 12 volt tractor and didnt use a current limiting voltage dropping (12 to 6) ballast resistor the switch would see way too much current and may overheat. John T

Fabricating Sidesheets - by Chris Pratt. The easiest and best first-time project for wanna-be sheet-metal workers like myself is flat or nearly flat metal cut and drilled to be a tractor's sidesheet. A sidesheet is sheetmetal to cover either the engine as in the case of early Oliver's, Massey-Harris' and many crawlers or the wiring and electrical components as in the case of the Massey-Harris Pony, Allis Chalmers' D Series (D-14, D-15, D-12, D-10, D-17, and D-19). The need for fabricating becomes obvious when you go to buy any of these
