Hugh, This loose steering problem comes up a lot on these offset farmalls. Several years I was at a local Case-IH dealer and I asked if there would be anything wrong with welding the gear to the shaft. I was surprised to hear something like "we fix alot of them that way." Have you ever heard of this? Do you think it would create any future problems?
