Farmall H pulley lube?

I have the pulley gearbox off my H right now to clean/paint, just wondering how it retains it's fluid. It looks to me like any gear lube you add can eventually drain down into the transmission. Is this something that you just add fluid every time you plan to use it, or how do you maintain the fluid level? Thanks for any advice.
