1) Make sure the starter isn't stuck. Put tractor in 5th gear, ignition switch OFF, and rock tractor backwards until you see the fan blade turn a little. Then try to start it. 2) Battery or battery connections may be the problem. Clean all corrosion off terminals, and make sure they are tight. 3) The 6 volt battery may explode if you hook it to a 12 volt charger or if you "jump" it from a 12 volt battery. Since it's still a 6 volt system, it's almost certainly a positive-ground system. Pay attention to that. I you decide to use jumper cables, put the - clamp on the STARTER TERMINAL and the + clamp on the frame for a ground. *DO NOT JUMP-START THE TRACTOR WHEN IT IS IN GEAR!* 4) There is always a chance that the starter switch is bad.
