CNKS: Very cold must be colder than I wish to tolerate any more. I've used 15W-40 in everything from SA to 1066 at minus 30-35 F. The 1066 did need block heater at those temperatures, but I had a 404 cubic inch Deere would fire right up at -35F with a wee shot of ether in the manifold injection and with 15W-40 oil in the crankcase. At our ages, if get much colder than that, we're best off by the fire side.
