do like michael says and hit the cylinders with a ridge reamer and cut the ridge out of the top. you can rent one pretty cheap from an auto supply store or rental place. other thing i'd try is to get the pistons to the bottom and the run a hone thru the cylinders to smooth em up a little. a ball hone would work the best, but you can use one that has the three stones too.dunk the hone in oil and run er in and out to knock the rust off.
