Curtis: Some require keyway repair and cutting larger keyways. My most successful one to date, the keyway in shaft was V shape. I ground a larger key to fit shaft, welded it in there, then ground it so gear was a press fit. Did much the same with key for steering arm. That was over 20 years ago, and of my 3 tractors it has the tightest steering.
