My 48 C has been sitting since I drove it into the shed about two years ago. Put new rear tires on it last fall but never started it. I knew there was crud in the gas tank so I removed that, cleaned it and put an extension to the feed port of the sediment bowl. Problem #1 Refit the tank, added some gas and the carb was flooding like crazy. Pulled the carb, cleaned it, checked the needle and seat which seems good. Floats seem fine. Put everything back together and it still floods but perhaps not as bad. Problem #2 The engine will not fire at all. It was always great at starting. I cranked it by hand and can hear the impulse on the mag snapping. I pulled the coil wire off the distributor and cranked the motor over. No spark. Removed the kill wire just to be sure that was not the problem. Pulled the cap and rotor which looks OK. Then I got really stupid and took off the little cover behind the rotor. As soon as I saw the gears it was Uh Oh. Now in addition to having no spark I have lost the timing for the rotor. Any ideas how to reset this? I can not see any pointer for the front pulley if that is where the marks are. Thanks for any help you can give me.
