you will get it going, these are simple motors, why do you have a battery and a hand crank, I know they can both be used on the same tractor ,, but if you have a battery do you also have a starter installed??? you either dont have spark or you flooded the carb, if in fact it ran for a little while you probably have spark, but it is flooding, check your point gap, and spark gap, you may need a faster spin to keep the engine running, if you live close by and tow it home put in in 3rd and have the gas on, the ignition button out and try to pop the clutch, a faster spinning engine is sometimes the key to the first start of the tractor after it is sitting awhile, if there is a starter on the tractor use it it will spin it faster than you can by hand, make sure the gas is FlOWING out of the gas line at the carb, if it is a trickle you need to address that first,, these engines are process of elimination when they dont start, all they need to run is gas air and spark, simple times back then.
