Pull the coil wire from the mag's cap and hold it within 1/8-1/4" of good ground while someone makes an attempt to start the tractor. Make sure the grounding switch is in the run position. You should have a hot blue fire from that coil wire. Check those points to make sure they're set at .020" on the high point of the cam. Clean them with some 320 wet or dry and then take a cotton swab dipped in alcohol and clean them again. If they're pitted replace them. If the fire from that coil wire is weak you probably need a new coil. One more thing is to make sure the impulse coupling is snapping ok. This gives a hotter spark during the initial startup. Hal
