Farmall BN continued

Well this weekend I went to Vermont to pick up the BN. A couple of things, the serial number plate indicates it as a BN. Serial number was 109506. so it was bulit in 1944. The tractor was rougher than I thought. The side walls on the tires were cut wide open, the intake/exaust manifold was rotted through. But the worst problem was this. I belive the battry mounts over the casting that connects the engine to the transmission? There was a lot of corosion on the housing. So much that there were holes eaten through the housing. Is this common? Needless to say, I did not purchase the tractor without discussing it with the forum
